Waste to Renewable Electric Energy/Monte Oro Resources & Energy
The non-biodegradable portion of the waste, such as plastics which have high calorific values are pelletized into Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF). These are used as feedstock to run electric power plants. For every 1,000 tons of garbage, 18 megawatts of renewable electricity will be produced. Metro Manila's garbage can supply a good percentage of its electricity demand. The plants will have minimal carbon footprint.
